About Us
Christ Community Ministries is committed to two things. First, advancement of WORD Retreats. Second, to encourage and develop Christ-centered community ministries that reflect the values of the WORD Retreats, based on the relationships built through the retreats.
Our History
WORD Retreats started in 2005 in Juneau, Alaska. Retreats were held annually for men every year. They eventually began to attract the attention of men and women outside of Juneau and have now spread to the state of Washington and China. The first women’s retreat occurred in Alaska and Washington in 2012. Christ Community Ministries was formed as a non-profit corporation in 2011 to advance the retreats across the United States and elsewhere.
Our Doctrine
- We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, the testimonials of the miracles he performed, death on the cross that provides our redemption, His bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, His present ministry of intercession on our behalf, and His return to earth in power and glory
- We believe in the personality and the deity of the Holy Spirit, that performs the miracle of new birth in the believer and indwells believers, enabling them to godliness
- We believe the Bible is God’s written revelation to humanity and that it is verbally inspired, authoritative, and without error in the original manuscripts. The entire Scripture is the only rule of faith and practice for Christians
- We believe that people were created in the image of God, but because of sin were alienated from God. Salvation from sin and restoration to God is by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ
